ABOUT LEGAL AID COMMITTEE
The College Legal Aid Committee is a committee of students. It works under aegis of its faculty-in-charge Dr. Aashish Borse and Ms. Megna Devkar. The members and volunteers of the Committee are group of students who actively participate in various activities and are keeping a spirit of serving the society with a social commitment. The College creates legal awareness by holding various legal literacy campaigns through posters, skits and interactions. This is conducted under the guidance taken from
Maharashtra Legal Services Authorities Act and in conjunction with Mumbai District Legal Services Authorities.
The main aim of the committee is to provide easy access to justice and the motto of the Committee is ‘GHAR GHAR NYAAY PRABHODHAN! The Committee conducts numerous legal literacy programmes in various areas of Mumbai and its suburbs, predominantly in schools, colleges, orphanages, prisons, juvenile home and old age homes, in addition to conducting several legal surveys in order to identify issues faced by the target groups and formulating solutions to solve the same.
The College legal aid committee operative the College Legal Aid clinic and is open on every working Saturday providing free legal aid services through counselling to the common citizens who are in need.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF LEGAL AID COMMITTEE
1. To organise and conduct various legal aid events at regular intervals.
2. To create legal awareness across various sections of the society.
3. To provide counselling and legal aid to citizens through the Legal Aid Clinic.
4. To enable bridging of the gap between citizens and practicing advocates with a view to facilitating the progress of their matters in the courts of law.
5. To facilitate the working of Lok-Adalats by involving students to participate and assists the court staff in the functioning of Lok-Adalat
